1. Make sure that every item you send is packaged in the appropriate manner. As you can imagine, this can differ greatly based on what you are shipping.

If you have to add a bit of extra padding, so be it. The bottom line is that your reputation is on the line each time you make a shipment. You want to be 100 percent sure that nothing gets damaged along the way.

3. Consider all of the packing options that are available to you. Chances are that if you or your company have experience shipping items that you know what boxes and packing are best. But even then, you should never settle. If you think that there is a better way of doing things, by all means look into it.

4. Take the time to properly mark any shipments that need it. For instance, does one package need special care? If so, you want to make sure that all of the handlers are aware of this. Sometimes it is not enough to rely on people to take care of your shipment. But when you give them an extra hint you can all but ensure that everything will be taken care of.

5. Even if you are familiar and comfortable with packaging items, you should always take your time. Remember, when you begin to rush you will begin to make mistakes. No matter how long it takes, make sure that your shipment is always as secure as possible. Being in a hurry is no excuse for shoddy shipping. Your recipient will not want to hear your excuses.
